On the last day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, a number of rising Australian designers showcased their collection as part of the “New Generation 2 Show” (Aanchal Chanda, Ash to Gold, LF Markey, Little Gracie, Luela, Susan Rep and Uscari). Amongst the seven designers that showcased their collections two designers really stood out for me, Ash To Gold and Uscari.
I loved seeing Ash to Gold’s colourful collection, combining beautiful prints and colours and modern designs that accentuated the female silhouette.
I loved this beautiful yellow dress (sorry my photos didn’t do it justice)- beautiful, feminine and bold.
“Ash to Gold is someone who has known for a long time they are not like the others. An obsessive attraction for repetition and detailing defines the labels aesthetics. Manipulation of simplicity, pairing the strong with the soft, show the exploration into the universe and the ever present balance of existence.” (Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week)
Another collection that literally blew me away was the USCARI collection, I loved their use of degrade printed dresses, and their combination of tapestry and textures into their designs. Each design was very unique and feminine with intricate detailing. Designs incorporated bold colours in burnt orange, blues, as well as a nice mix of creams, white and black. Uscaris Designer, Elayna Mackay, definitely incorporated the ‘Greek Goddess’ look and added her own unique twist, bringing more colour and texture to the overall look – loved it!
(note to self – next time I’ll try not to sit behind someone wearing a big black hat on the front row! 😉
Each design was absolutely unique, feminine, and stunning – definitely designed for the strong independent woman who likes to be a bit bolder and stand out in the crowd – this is definitely a crowd stopper! 😉
Another beautiful feminine design with the lovely degrade print
Here is another beautiful combination of tapestry giving that added texture, depth and unique detailing to the dress.
The use of woven tapestry in the designs reminded me of some influences from South America (particularly Brazil) – they love combining the use of tapestry, woven fabrics and textures and a lot of bright colours, which I love – I will definitely be looking out for this label and hopefully we will be able to collaborate with them in future!
“Uscari is a vibrant new label set to challenge the existing tapestry of the fashion scene. USCARI was born out of a love affair for the finer things in life – the beauty of detailing and unusual designs. Staying true to vision, USCARI is a clever twist on classic and on-trend tailoring. USCARI is effortless yet sophisticated and exudes raw beauty. Capturing the essence of natural elegance, USCARI’s intrinsic value is afforded through original design subtleties in every single piece. Uscaris Designer, Elayna Mackay, commenced her fashion career in Milan after winning a Government funded Scholarship. There she gained extensive knowledge of pattern construction, working alongside the head pattern maker at Dolce & Gabbana, then moving on to a role in tailoring at Blumarine.” (Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week)
