LFW Day 1 London’adorais street style

I thought I’d share my outfit for Day 1 of London Fashion Week.

Here I’m with my partner in crime H at the Eley Kishimoto Showcase (resting our little feet).

Me (on left): Zara top & necklace, Burberry lace skirt and Finsk shoes

Forgot to ask what H’s outfit is…

LFW Vauxhall Fashion Scout Ones to Watch… Ming-Pin Tien

The opening designer to showcase their collection under Ones to Watch was Ming-Pin Tien. Ming-Pin is a recent graduate from the London College of Fashion and originally from Taiwan.

His collection started with safari-esque colours and cuts, fused with origami folds in the back of the garments, and animal paw like prints down the garments.

To close the collection, he incorporated gladiator clasp-weave leather, firstly as details and then almost like a body armour.

LFW The love of shoes – Sophia Webster

Shoes shoes shoes… I always will love shoes!

In the last few years, shoe designs have grown to become the centre  piece of outfits. I love that there is a growing number of designers dedicating themselves to decorating our feet.

Sophia Webster, a graduate from Royal College of Arts who previously worked with the Designer of the Year 2010 Nicholas Kirkwood, designed beautiful colourful and playful shoes. Her first collection was inspired by a trip to Rio, and I can sure imagine the beautiful cariocas (girls from Rio) doing the samba in one of these little numbers.

I don’t know which ones I love more!

LFW Ones to Watch designer – Hellen van Rees

Ones to Watch are known for selecting the next “IT” designers to showcase their collection at LFW at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout. One of the four designers selected was Hellen Van Rees, a graduate of Central Saint Martins . Hellen combines recycled materials with an innovative approach to fabric manipulation.

This collection, similarly to her AW 12 collection, was inspired by the tweed fabrics used by Chanel and plastic-like fabric, a straight silhouette of 1920’s flapper girls and 3-dimensional artworks by Anish Kapoor and Rachel Whitebread.

On the streets LFW – Day 2 Somerset House

Having miserably failed to make the 9am Daks show on Day 2 of fashion week, I was comforted by the beautiful array of fashion from just walking around Somerset House.

Clutches are definitely the accessory of the moment (sadly I always struggle to edit my contents to fit in one!).

I have the same Lara Bohinc shoes… and this little fashionista has the killer pins to show them off! The simple colour palette, the straight silhouette and detailing… love the complete outfit!

LFW Eley Kishimoto showcase

London Fashion Week and London Design Week BOTH started on Friday 14 September… WHY OH WHY?!? So many things to do, so little time… the good thing is that one designer, Eley Kishimoto, combined their Spring & Summer 13 collection with the Living in Pattern design event at the Aram Gallery. The showcase is open for viewing until the 27 October.

Eley Kishimoto collaborated with Clarks to create an amazing printed shoe collaboration – who wants comfortable pretty shoes?!? Moi!

Some beautiful porcelain…
