I used to love love love Sass & Bide in my younger years. When they came out about 10 years ago, they were the “it” label for the fashionistas like Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton (eeks… not a good fashion icon I know), and after a few years I felt like they had left their designs slip a little into the more mainstream and a bit tacky. When I found out I nabbed myself some tickets to the show on the opening night of London Fashion Week, I was still pretty excited to see the Sydney duo!
I was thoroughly blown away by the beautiful tailoring, beading and detailing and a monochrome and neon colour palette that made this Aussie label stand on par with the London designers. It was a much more refined, grown up but still young collection.
The Sydney duo still do bring in the fashionistas with the front row including Pixie Geldoff and Poppy Delevigne and on the runway London “it” models Cara Delevigne and Jourdan Dunn.
Wow, you must’ve sat so close to the runway! Your close-up pics made the pieces look so much more interesting than what I had seen. Beautiful detailing and clever tailoring. For once I preferred S&B over Willow!
The power of the zoom 🙂 There were only three rows so not too bad. I actually saw Willow’s collection in their showroom space in Somerset House and I think what they were showing were more wearable pieces. Sass & Bide is a bit more glam but really well cut and tailored so looks quite sophisticated.
