Ready for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

I’m so excited about Mercedes-Benz Fashion Australia week, which starts today.  There is a great line up of designers this year, from established designers such as Tome, Ellery, Toni Maticevski, Alice MCall, Kate Sylvester, Jayson Brunsdon, Manning Cartell to “newer” designers that have been established in recent years such as Strateas Carlucci, Michael lo Sordo, MacGraw, Daniel Avakian, Lee Matthews, Watson x Watson, Zhivago, Kahlo & Wang Yu Tao.  I also love seeing all the emerging designers at the Innovators shows and Raffles shows too, and there is a great line up of seminars by our favourite fashion designers including Kit Willow (who is still one of my favourite designers and I am so excited is launching a new label KitX soon), as well as Akira Isogawa & Nicola Finetti.

It’s been a busy few months in the lead up to MBFWA, we have been busy liaising with our Creative team to get the J’adorais online boutique ready to launch in coming months, but last Friday I had a welcome break and the fun task of getting pampered and ready for Fashion Week.

The day started with a great run in Centennial Park to clear the head (healthy body & healthy mind),  I love running amongst these beautiful surrounds.

Followed by a haircut at Toni & Guy’s in Paddington.  I’ve been a Toni & Guy regular for years, from London to Sydney, I’ve never had a bad haircut from them 😉 – my regular hairdresser was away in Tokyo but lovely Laura did a fabulous job.

Before haircut (excuse the messy bun/ flustered face post run).

Love to unwind with a coffee and a read during haircuts.

Et voila, one cut & blow dry later!

Oskarvest

Here, wearing a lovely warm wool-mix check vest by Oskar, love this vest – which also comes in white (see my previous post, Autumn is all about layering with vests ;), Burberry belt & tote, Diesel distressed denim jeans, Alexander McQueen steel-toe boots.

Post haircut I found myself some gorgeous nude pumps by Australian brand Alphaville in Paddington.  I’ve been looking for a pair of nude pumps for a while, I loved this design with the cute bow detailing on the back, and the orange heel.  Since they’ve got a wedge heel they’ll be comfortable too for the long days at Fashion Week! Plus they were on sale too, so bonus!

Oh I just had to share this for my London followers, I saw a red double-decker bus in Oxford St! After living 6 years in London before moving back to Sydney I always get a bit of  London nostalgia when I see a double decker bus in Sydney’s own Oxford St in, Paddington 😉

Then, off to get my nails done, my sister Clarice helped me pick these great nail colours.  Midnight blue, by Opi (see below).

Over the last week I’ve been excited to receive invitations for a few of the fashion shows next week, most of them are now paperless, but my favourite invite to arrive in the ‘snail mail’ so far has been this cute invitation by MacGraw, complete with a sweet biscuit!

I love these sisters (Tessa & Beth’s) designs, funnily enough my good friend Kash O’Hara (OHara Designs) sister went to Fashion school with one of the Magraw sisters.   Amongst the many shows I will be attending next week well, I’m looking forward to seeing sister duo Watson x Watson.  I was lucky enough to meet Liberty Watson 3 years ago when she debuted her first collection with sister Somer (she’s beautiful, talented & lovely in person too!) and they have since grown and have a great store flagship store in Paddington.  I will also be attending sister trio (go the power of three 😉 Manning Cartell’s show, three talented sisters (Gabrielle, Cheryl and Vanessa) who’s designs I have enjoyed wearing myself and styling clients over the years.

Speaking of loving following fashion sisters, I can’t wait to share fashion week this week with my sister Clarice (@brigadeirochoc) who will arrive this afternoon from Adelaide.  We have been each other’s style consultants for fashion week, thank goodness for smart phones and chat apps such as viber, even Fashion Stylists need second opinions! 😉 (our sister Janice in London has also given us a third opinion too, unfortunately she won’t be joining us at fashion week, but will be closely watching from London).

I can’t believe I now have to pack for a 30 minute journey away, I no longer live 10 minutes away from Carriageworks as I did when we attended MBFWA last year, but luckily we’re staying in a hotel in my favourite old neighbourhood of Surry Hills to be closer to the action (& early starts!). I’m looking forward to being in the old hood as well as having some fun fashion & sisterly bonding time this week.

My sister has already packed her bag with these gorgeous outfits below, now it’s time for me to pack mine!
