Hei Lau is another great Hong Kong designer I had the pleasure of meeting at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. I met with the designer and had a nice chat her background & inspirations for her designs over a few wines at the HK wine tasting event held at HK house (an event to introduce a number of the designers from HK presenting at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia), and also had the pleasure of viewing her SS12/13 collection showcased at the Raffles fashion show.
“Hei Lau was born in Hong Kong, after graduating and obtaining her degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2004, she started designing her own ladies wear collection under the label TRÈSHEI, owned and run by the prestigious Hong Kong retail group ‘TWIST’. Five years later she left the group and introduced her own eponyms label HEI LAU in 2009, to further pursue her design philosophy and dream. Hei Lau has since showcased her Spring Summer and Fall Winter collections in Paris, France every year, introducing HEI LAU to the international buyers. Her designs appeals to sophisticated, discerning and stylish women, who adore fashion and effortless chic and want to dress different. Her ladieswear collections are designed mostly in fluid silks or natural fibres, and in leather or fur during winter.” (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia)
This is one of my favourite designs from her collection – I liked the beautiful print (slightly japanese looking) and the silhouette of this dress (a very versatile addition to a girl’s wardrobe!:).
(Photos reposted from Fashionising – my photos from the show didn’t turn out very well)
After Australian Fashion Week, Hei Lau is going on to display her latest collection in Paris. She also has her collections selling in luxury department stores in London and middle-east. Here’s a photo of the designer & moi at last week’s Wine Tasting event.
Look out for this designer, Hei Lau, taking over Hong Kong, Australia, Paris and hopefully coming soon to J’adorais! 😉
